What is the South Main Association?

We’re creative and quirky, energetic and entrepreneurial. We’re the residents, merchants, and friends of the South Main Historic Arts District, where you’ll find some of the most important cultural attractions in Memphis – from the Orpheum Theatre and the National Civil Rights Museum to Earnestine & Hazel’s and Central Station Hotel. The district is home to dozens of trendy locally owned restaurants, boutiques and galleries – most of them tucked into the historic buildings that define the neighborhood.


We promote the future of our community while remaining passionate about preserving its past.

You’ll make new friends and business connections, be the first to hear about breaking news in the neighborhood, and contribute to policy decisions that affect our district. Benefits & Cost

Free Admission to South Main Socials
These informal neighborhood gatherings are held the second Tuesday of each month. South Main Socials feature hosts and guests speakers from some of South Main’s hippest venues, and always include complimentary camaraderie and refreshments. Non-member fee is $10/guest.


Free Admission to the SMA Trolley Night Member Area
Trolley Nights, held the last Friday of each month, are monthly celebrations of the food, art, music, and more in the South Main community. The SMA Trolley Night Member Area, complete with complementary food, beverages, and your South Main neighborhood friends, is the perfect spot to start your evening stroll!*
